This morning I believe I saw a pine warbler on the lawn outside of the farmhouse. Temperatures are hovering around 34 degrees, with possible snow showers this afternoon. We had breakfast at the diner, and then were surprised to see a broad-winged hawk swoop low over the street and come to rest on a branch above our car. He was not afraid of us, so we got a good look at the bars on his tail, and the uniform brown and white speckled pattern of his body. Add this to the flock of twelve or so wild turkeys we've seen several times (including two big toms who displayed for us by the hay wagons) and the herd of fifteen plus deer, and it's been a week full of wildlife. Chasing the sheep back into their meadow has become such a constant nuisance that we're going to try and build up the fence today despite the cold. -AK
